With less than a month left before the NBA regular season tips off, the Chicago Bulls are aiming to move past the conclusion of last year, where they finished below .500 at 39-43 and landed as the No. 9 seed in the Eastern Conference.

Head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls’ young roster have been adjusting after moving on from two of their top players in recent years. DeMar Derozan was traded before last season, and Zach LaVine was dealt at the trade deadline in February.
With this being said, one of their developmental projects, Coby White, has only shown improvement. However, his status for the start of the regular season is uncertain after sustaining an injury in August.
Coby White’s status is uncertain while rehabbing calf strain
Coby White, 25, suffered a calf strain in August, and the Bulls are limiting his workload in training camp and the preseason.

Executive vice president Arturas Karnisovas said he hopes White can return by the end of the season, Chicago Sports Network‘s K.C. Johnson reported.
With this news, there’s no guarantee that White will be ready for the start of the regular season on Oct. 22 against the Detroit Pistons. This would be a huge loss for the Bulls if he’s unable to get healthy in time.
White will look to make another leap in his game after he finished the 2024-25 season averaging 20.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, while shooting 45.3% from the field and 37% from three.
