No, they didn’t blow up the chicken man in Philly last night. But there was a Bruce Springsteen sighting in the City of Brotherly Love.
Country music superstar Zach Bryan’s “Quittin Time” tour was at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Wednesday night, and the “Pink Skies” singer brought out a slew of guests. The biggest being The Boss himself, as Springsteen joined Bryan on stage to play one of his most iconic songs, “Atlantic City.”
The duo also played “Sandpaper,” a song off Bryan’s latest album, “The Great American Bar Scene,” that was released on July 4 and featured Springsteen. The song sounds very similar to Springsteen’s 1984 hit, “I’m On Fire,” with similar drum patterns and The Boss’s signature howl featured in the bridge.

It’s not the first time Bryan and Springsteen have performed “Sandpaper” live. The Boss joined Bryan as a surprise guest at a Brooklyn show back in March to sing the then-unreleased track. That collaboration took place shortly after Bryan broke Springsteen’s attendance record at Prudential Center in Newark earlier that month, bringing more than 19,000 fans to the Jersey arena for his sold-out show.
Bruce and Bryan were eventually joined by The Lumineers (who got their start in Ramsey) and Philly-based comedian Shane Gillis to perform “Revival,” typically Bryan’s closing song.
Springsteen’s next New Jersey performance is a little more than a month away, a sold-out headlining spot at the massive Sea Hear Now festival on the Asbury Park beach Sept. 15.
