Brian Glenn, the chief White House correspondent of Real America’s Voice, praised President Trump’s crime crackdown in Washington, DC, for making Glenn feel safer walking the streets of the nation’s capital with his girlfriend, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Glenn made the comments as Trump riffed about his actions to clean up the District during a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
“I walked around yesterday with MTG. If you can walk around with DC with MTG, the city is safe,” Glenn quipped, referring to the Georgia Republican.
Since Aug. 7, Trump has ordered a dramatic surge of federal law enforcement personnel to tackle crime in DC.
Last week, the president took control of DC’s police and deployed the National Guard.
Hundreds of criminals have been arrested by law enforcement since, according to the White House.
“We went from the most unsafe place anywhere,” the president claimed Monday. “Democrats are calling me up, and they’re saying, ‘Sir, I want to thank you. My wife and I went out to dinner last night for the first time in four years and Washington, DC, is safe.’”
The administration has also moved to take down homeless encampments and teased plans to pursue a crime and beautification bill from Congress when it reconvenes next month following its August recess.
The president’s tangent came while he was riffing about media coverage of his Friday summit with Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
Earlier in the high-stakes White House meeting, Glenn praised Zelensky’s attire after scolding him during the Feb. 28 meeting for wearing his military-style sweater. Zelensky changed up his wardrobe with a military-style suit to avoid a repeat of the chaotic Oval Office encounter six months ago.
“President Zelensky, you look fabulous in that suit,” Glenn told the Ukrainian president during an Oval Office gaggle with reporters. “You look good.”
In February, Zelensky clashed with Trump and Vice President JD Vance at the White House. Glenn publicly chastised the Ukrainian leader for his attire during the chaotic meeting.
“I apologize to you. You look wonderful,” Glenn added.
A smiling Zelensky pointed to Glenn’s suit and joked in response, “It’s the same suit.”
“You see, I have changed; you have not.”
The Oval Office erupted in laughter after the exchange.
