The Seattle Seahawks and right tackle Abraham Lucas have agreed to terms on a three-year, $46 million contract extension that includes additional incentives, according to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo on Thursday morning.
The Seahawks are being overlooked in 4 ways by national pundits
Lucas, a 2022 third-round draft pick out of Washington State and an alum of Archbishop Murphy High School in Everett, was heading into the final year of his rookie deal.
The extension indicates the Seahawks are confident in Lucas’ health after he was limited to just 13 games over the past two seasons due to a knee issue.
Lucas established himself as a potential cornerstone for Seattle’s offensive line during a strong 2022 rookie campaign. He started 16 games at right tackle that year and ranked 39th out of 81 offensive tackles in Pro Football Focus grading.
Lucas suffered a knee injury in the 2023 season opener, which limited him to six games in his second year. He then underwent knee surgery in January 2024, which sidelined him for the first half of last season. Lucas returned in Week 11 and started seven straight games before sitting out the regular-season finale, at which point the Seahawks had already been eliminated from playoff contention.
Lucas has been fully healthy in training camp this year. Back in June, the 6-foot-6, 322-pounder said he felt “night and day” different than at that point the previous year.
Lucas is the first player from the Seahawks’ talented 2022 draft class to receive an extension. That class also includes left tackle Charles Cross, running back Kenneth Walker III, edge rusher Boye Mafe, safety Coby Bryant and cornerback Riq Woolen. The Seahawks picked up the fifth-year option on Cross’ rookie deal in April, which keeps him in Seattle through the 2026 season.
