Jelly Roll’s debut Australia and New Zealand tour came to an end no fans had ever expected.
The 40-year-old American rapper and singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, left his fans disappointed by canceling the final Auckland show just hours before taking the stage.
Taking over to his Instagram Stories on Friday, November 8, the Grammy-nominated musician announced he was unable to perform at the Outer Fields at Western Springs due to some health issues.
“Dear Auckland, I’ve done everything I can,” the Need a Favor singer wrote on social media. “I just can’t shake it.”
“It breaks my heart, I’ve probably missed three shows in the last decade. I pride myself on showing up no matter what. Just couldn’t do it this time. Please forgive me,” he added.
Moreover, Live Nation issued a statement on the show’s cancellation, writing, “We regret to announce the Jelly Roll Down Under 2025 Tour tonight at The Outer Fields at Western Springs in Auckland will no longer go ahead due to illness.”
Unfortunately, fans didn’t receive any updates regarding the cancellation until they arrived at the venue.
The late notice left many frustrated and disappointed, especially those who had traveled long distances to attend the Son of a Sinner hitmaker’s first-ever New Zealand performance.
The country-rock star’s first-ever visit to the region included back-to-back shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena, a sold-out night at Sydney’s Qudos Bank Arena and an Adelaide show at AEC Theatre.
He also headlined the inaugural Strummingbird Festival on the Sunshine Coast followed by dates in Newcastle and Perth.
