After a tough stretch, Cooper Kupp delivers a powerful message that sparks hope for a Seahawks bounceback.mh

The Seattle Seahawks dropped their second game of the season in Week 5, losing 38-35 to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and star wide receiver Cooper Kupp is ready to get back in the win column.

Kupp is in his first season with the Seahawks after eight years with the NFC West rival Los Angeles Rams. But Kupp, a native of Yakima, Washington, has embraced every facet of his new reality. Moreover, he is taking a head-on approach to ensuring it does not turn sour.

The 32-year-old wideout finished the loss to the Buccaneers with six receptions for 59 yards, both of which marked his second-highest marks of the season. He also earned kudos for doing things that do not show up in the box score, such as his focus and run blocking.

Kupp is off to a slower start than he is used to, which isn’t surprising given he is in a new city, on a new team, in a new offense, and playing with a new quarterback. But his message on social media could be the impetus to get the Seahawks going.

For Kupp, it’s time to prepare for next week, as the Seahawks look to get back on track against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

“Make-It-Right week of work,” the 2021 Offensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl champion, Kupp, said in a post shared on X on Monday.

The Buccaneers drove down the field for a game-winning field goal after a Sam Darnold interception, which he took accountability for. Darnold also threw four touchdowns in that game, though, Kupp is still looking for his first of the season.

Kupp has caught 21 of his 29 targets for 220 yards this season, though he’s had just one game with more than 60 yards and just two games with more than five catches.

Working as a complementary option to Jaxson Smith-Njigba, who’s having a breakout year, Kupp is tracking for the fewest yards in a season of his career.

Despite Kupp’s inability to make a true impact, the Seahawks have the fifth-ranked passing offense (245.4 yards per game) and the eighth-most touchdown passes, thanks in part, to Smith-Njigba’s 534 receiving yards and the seven combined touchdown catches of second-year tight end A.J. Barner (four) and rookie receiver Tory Horton (three).
