There’s a royal wedding ahead for Peter Phillips!

King Charles’ nephew, 47, announced his engagement to Harriet Sperling, an NHS nurse, after a year of dating. Hello! magazine was the first to report the news and share new photos of the couple, featuring Harriet sporting her engagement ring, on August 1.

“Mr. Peter Phillips, the son of HRH The Princess Royal and Captain Mark Phillips, and Ms. Harriet Sperling, daughter of the late Mr. Rupert Sanders and Mrs. Mary Sanders of Gloucestershire, have today confirmed their official engagement,” a statement issued for the couple by Gerard Franklin said, according to the outlet.

“Both families were informed jointly of the announcement and were delighted with the wonderful news of their engagement. Their Majesties The King and Queen, The Prince and Princess of Wales have been informed of the announcement,” the statement continued, adding that no date has been officially set for the wedding.

Peter has two daughters, Savannah and Isla, whom he shares with ex-wife, Autumn Kelly. The pair, who wed in 2008, announced their separation in February 2020 and finalized their divorce in June 2021.

“Whilst this is a sad day for Peter and Autumn, they continue to put the well-being and upbringing of their wonderful daughters Savannah and Isla first and foremost,” according to a statement released at the time. “Both Peter and Autumn are pleased to have resolved matters amicably with the children firmly at the forefront of those thoughts and decisions.”

They added, “Peter and Autumn have requested privacy and consideration for their children as the family adapts to a new chapter in their lives.”

The eldest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth is the first of his generation of the royal family to separate from his spouse.

Following his split from Autumn, Peter dated Lindsay Wallace for three years. While dating, they attended several royal family events together, including King Charles’ star-studded Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle and his late grandmother’s Platinum Jubilee in the summer of 2022.

In the time since, Harriet has joined the royal family at events such as Royal Ascot. She has been spotted chatting with future mother-in-law Princess Anne, future sister-in-law Zara Tindall as well as Queen Camilla and more.

Harriet also has a daughter, Georgia, according to Hello!

Peter and Harriet’s announcement comes just one day after Princess Diana‘s niece Lady Eliza Spencer shared news of her own engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Channing Millerd. According to an Instagram post, Millerd popped the question in Santorini, Greece, overlooking the water in a dreamy scene.
