Queen Camilla’s down-to-earth summer habit proves she’s just like the rest of us.x

Queen Camilla wears sunglasses as she watches Wimbledon from the royal box on a summer day where she was joined by Peter Phillips and his partner, Harriet Sperling, whose royal romance was given another seal of approval.

The Queen’s Reading Room has released a new portrait of Queen Camilla on a sunny Bank Holiday weekend and it’s the ultimate late summer image.

Queen Camilla’s online book community has shared a new portrait of Her Majesty from photographer Chris Jackson.

In the portrait, she is wearing one of her favourite casual looks, her vivid green and turquoise animal print Fiona Claire dress that she also wore for her birthday portrait, as well as her portrait with her new pup, Moley. Both of those photos were also taken by Chris Jackson.

The Instagram post also teased a new season of the book club coming soon. And that’s where late summer comes in. Not only does The Queen look relaxed and sunny, she’s also holding a huge pile of books and we’ve all been there. It wouldn’t be summer without gathering a big mountain of new reads that we want to make our way through. Even Queen Camilla has a TBR pile by her bed, it seems.

The Queen has the ideal opportunity to slim down her must read pile. Each season, Queen Camilla picks four books to focus on, ranging wildly in genre, for her Reading Room.

Some of the books featured in previous seasons include Jane Austen’s Pride and PrejudiceThe Secret History by Donna Tartt, Lady Anne Glenconner’s Lady in Waiting, and The Fair Botanists from Sara Sheridan.

Originally started in 2021 during the pandemic, The Queen’s Reading Room now has several focuses. In addition to hosting the online book club four times a year, The Queen’s Reading Room Festival is hosted each year with the 2025 festival at Chatsworth on 19 and 20 September.

This is also the first year for The Queen’s Reading Room Medal. The medal “celebrates individuals who have championed reading, books and literature in communities around the UK”.
