Carrie Underwood has released nine studio albums, a greatest hits collection, and has dozens of singles and loves a good cover song, but out of all those many, many tunes in her repertoire, there’s one she simply will not perform live.

Underwood stopped by Good Morning America and answered a few questions about her career, her return to American Idol, and some of the songs she loves to sing—and one she cannot.
When asked about her favorite lines from a song for a video shared on social media, Underwood explained that there’s one song she absolutely adores but simply cannot perform live for one very good reason: It makes her cry.
“My favorite lyrics I’ve ever sang are probably from a song called ‘Forever Changed,'” she told GMA. “I didn’t write it, I wish I had.”

“It’s one of my absolute favorite songs I have ever recorded, it is so beautiful, but it makes me cry,” Underwood admits in the video. “I’ve never performed it live because it’s just too special, and I will bawl and not make it through, but I love that song so much.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the tune, it’s from Underwood’s 2012 album Blown Away, which was her fourth album. The heartbreaking song tells the story of a young woman growing up, falling in love, having a child, before succumbing to the memory loss that comes from Alzheimer’s disease. It’s a devastating tune that Underwood has said reminds her of the loss of her grandmother. It’s a tragic song and not surprising that she wouldn’t want to perform live.
