Moments after Thursday’s live show began with a Hot Topics conversation about the ongoing government shutdown leading to air travel nightmares for many Americans, moderator Whoopi Goldberg paused her introduction by mistakenly calling out 83-year-old cohost Joy Behar for messing with her bra on live TV.
“I thought you were moving your bra around. I don’t know what’s happening,” the 69-year-old said, cutting off her own opening remarks to marvel at Behar, who was simply rubbing one hand with the other near her chest.
Behar scowled at Goldberg’s comment, which opened the floodgates for the remaining panelists.
Conservative star Alyssa Farah Griffin jumped in to observe, “She is dressed like a dominatrix, though,” referencing Behar’s sleek, black leather outfit.
“Why do I have to wear a brassiere anymore? I don’t want to do it anymore. I just don’t,” Behar then complained, to which Goldberg advised, “Well, just let them go!”

The audience laughed as Behar clapped back, “No, you can’t have things hanging around like that. Not on TV anyway!”
Griffin observed, “There’s also nowhere to put the mic,” while Goldberg squeezed one more ounce of juice out of an already fruitful conversation.
“Just so you know, I’ve been hanging for years. You know!” the EGOT-winning Ghost and Sister Act actress said of her own brassiere preference.
She then seamlessly transitioned into a discussion about America’s government shutdown woes.
“But, that’s neither here nor there, because we’ve reached day 37 of the government shutdown, the longest shutdown in U.S. history,” she said, and Hot Topics carried on without a hitch.

The show’s panelists regularly rib each other for their style of dress, with Behar once accusing Sunny Hostin of wearing a penis on her dress, while Goldberg once attempted to cut Griffin’s incorrectly worn shirt live on the air.
