Nghệ sĩ giải trí của năm 2021 tại CMA,  Luke Combs,  đã có mối quan hệ với người vợ hiện tại của mình, Nicole Hocking Combs, từ trước khi anh trở nên nổi tiếng… vậy, họ gặp nhau lần đầu như thế nào?

Cặp đôi đã chia sẻ câu chuyện về cách mối quan hệ của họ bắt đầu khi họ xuất hiện với tư cách khách mời trong podcast  Couple Things với Shawn Johnson và Andrew East  .

Luke và Nicole chuyển đến Nashville cùng thời điểm và nhanh chóng trở thành bạn thân. Cả hai đều gặp gỡ những người khác thông qua bạn bè chung, nên mối quan hệ của họ không bao giờ tiến xa hơn thế.

Nhưng mọi chuyện đã thay đổi khi cả hai đều còn độc thân và tình cờ gặp nhau tại một lễ hội âm nhạc ở Florida vào năm 2016. Nicole lúc đó đang làm việc cho BMI, đơn vị tổ chức lễ hội, và Luke là một trong những nghệ sĩ biểu diễn. “Tôi chẳng có gì đặc biệt khi chúng tôi gặp nhau,” Luke nói. “Tôi không có hợp đồng thu âm, hợp đồng xuất bản, hay bất cứ thứ gì cả.”

Nicole decided to make the first move. “I had just left a musician’s meeting and he was late, and I was just like, ‘Hey, come hang out with us, why are you alone?'”

Luke laughed at the memory, then added, “Yeah, I looked pretty bad too… I was wearing camouflage sweatpants from Walmart… really fancy stuff. And probably like the oldest T-shirt I’ve ever owned.”

The couple started hanging out later that night and quickly started dating. About three months into their relationship, Luke nervously played Nicole a song he wrote about her. The song, “Beautiful Crazy,” became Luke’s fifth number one hit on the Country Airplay chart in March 2019.

By November 2018, Luke decided to pop the question, but things didn’t go as planned. Nicole and Luke shared this funny story in a conversation with Shawn Johnson and Andrew East .

The couple had only moved into their new apartment a day before things took a turn for the worse. Their two stressed-out cats got sick, completely derailing Luke’s proposal plans. He had bought new collars for the cats with new addresses, and was planning to put an engagement ring on Nicole’s cat’s collar. To make matters worse, Nicole had to pick up her parents from the airport the next morning, and Luke had told them he was proposing that night, so he couldn’t delay. So what did Luke do?

“I just told her what I was going to do,” Luke said.

Nicole recounted the details of him giving her the engagement ring, including her stunned reaction. “He was like, ‘I have this cat collar… Oh, and I’m giving you this too.’ He pulled out the ring, got down on one knee, and did the whole thing. I blacked out, I don’t remember anything. I was like, ‘My ears are hot,’ what’s going on?… I didn’t expect it to get to this point… especially at that time.”

Although the proposal didn’t go as planned, Nicole said yes and they were married on August 1, 2020. Luke’s representative shared with People : “Luke and Nicole got married at their home in south Florida with their family on August 1. Despite the threat of hurricanes, the couple had a lovely intimate ceremony and will celebrate with friends and family in the new year.”

Video footage from this special day was even used in the official music video for Luke’s song “Forever After All,” which Luke wrote about Nicole.

Luke may be releasing more songs about Nicole in the near future. In December, Luke hinted that his third album was nearing completion. He shared on Instagram : “I’m going to take a few weeks off and then we’ll finish LC3.”

Meanwhile, the couple recently revealed that they are expecting their first child, a baby boy, due later this year.
