The Tension Explodes: Whoopi Goldberg Rips Her Note on ‘The View’ After Trump Autopen Joke Debate.th

Whoopi Goldberg was not happy her co-host on “The View” couldn’t take a “joke” she made about President Donald Trump using an autopen.

The Oscar winner, who, along with her co-host, is known to be a stern critic of Trump, got irritated after being asked to clarify her autopen comment.

This comes after Whoopi Goldberg and the other ladies of “The View” were previously told to “tone down” what was becoming perceived as Trump hate on the show.

Whoopi Goldberg Jokes That Donald Trump Used An Autopen For A Recent Pardon

An exchange between Goldberg and her co-host on “The View,” Sunny Hostin, became quite tense after she was asked to clarify a joke she made about President Trump using an autopen.

The ladies were discussing Trump’s interview with “60 Minutes” during the Monday edition, as Hostin noted that the billionaire politician had pardoned Changpeng “CZ” Zhao, the convicted founder of Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange.

Hostin then pointed to Trump’s remarks where he said he didn’t know anything about a pardon, nor had he heard about Zhao.

“The Trump family has made about $1.8 billion, profited off of this government, and he said that Joe Biden didn’t know who he was pardoning using an autopen. How come you don’t know who this guy is?” Hostin said.

Goldberg then claimed that the reason Trump couldn’t remember how he pardoned Zhao was “because he used an autopen.”

However, as time went by on the program, Hostin wrote a note and passed it to the 69-year-old  as she was speaking.

“What the hell? What?” Goldberg said as she took the note. “We don’t know if Trump used an autopen to pardon; it was a joke!”

Seemingly irritated, the comedian started to tear the note and expressed disgust at the need for clarification, with Hostin repeating that they didn’t know if Trump used an autopen for the pardon.

Goldberg then went off, saying, “I’m sorry. The hardest thing about this job now is no one understands nuance. You know when you hear a joke, when somebody is fooling around, when they’re not saying something specific. Especially on this show.”

She added, “I’m very specific when I’m pointing stuff out. When I’m making jokes, you know when I’m making jokes. This is ridiculous.”

The Actress Continued To Slam Trump’s Immigration Policies

Goldberg made sure to rip into the president’s immigration policies during the show, drawing applause from the audience.

“One thing that really upsets me about all of this is that when people do it legally, everybody b-tched and moaned and said ‘they are not doing it legally,’ so people are showing up when they’re supposed to be showing up at court, and you’re scooping them up for immigrant checks,” she began, per the New York Post.

The TV personality continued, “And this is how you treat them. So how should we believe anything you’re saying when we saw how folks in Chicago were treated over the weekend? We saw that. We see what’s going on. We see what happens when children are in court by themselves.”

She then added, “Come on now, you know exactly what you’re doing, and you seem to be having a good time while you’re doing it.”

Ever since assuming office, Trump has launched several immigration policies that have been met with criticism and protests. There were mass deportations and arrests that took place across the country, which came alongside ICE raids.

Whoopi Goldberg Was Reportedly Warned To ‘Tone Down’ The Trump Criticism On ‘The View’

It comes months after the often vocal Trump critic was asked to “tone down” her harsh criticism of the president and focus on conversations surrounding pop culture.

At the time, Goldberg and her co-hosts came down heavily on the billionaire politician for claiming there was “white genocide” in South Africa, as well as for accepting a luxury jet gift from Qatar following his visit to the country.

Reports suggested that ABC executives, including Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News President Almin Karamehmedovic, expressed concern about the ladies’ constant focus on Trump and politics.

Karamehmedovic, in particular, reportedly held a meeting with “The View” executive producer Brian Teta and its hosts, where he encouraged them to watch more of their highly rated episodes with celebrities.

However, according to Decider, they vehemently pushed back as a source explained they said, “This is what our audience wants. Isn’t it gonna look kind of bad if we’re all of a sudden not talking about politics?”

They ultimately found the requests “silly” and seemingly decided that “they were just going to keep doing their thing.”
