Bunnie Xo is opening up about her and husband Jelly Roll‘s journey as they try to have a baby.

On the Sunday, Nov. 2 episode of her Dumb Blonde podcast, Bunnie Xo, 45, spoke with guest Maury Povich about his and wife Connie Chung‘s attempts to get pregnant — and how they ultimately decided to adopt children.

“We went through the same stuff that you and Jelly Roll have gone through,” Povich told Bunnie, whose real name is Alisa DeFord. Bunnie and the “Wild Ones” singer, 40, have been open about trying to expand their family, including their experience with in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Povich continued of his and Chung’s journey in Sunday’s episode: “We tried to get pregnant. I’m telling you, this is over 30 years ago. So Connie had to take time off from CBS and it became a big story that we were trying to get pregnant.”

Eventually, the Maury host and CBS Evening News anchor decided to adopt their children because they “couldn’t do it”—and Povich added that the decision was “the best” he could have made.

Bunnie acknowledged that the process of trying to get pregnant has not been easy.

“It is tough, but at the same time it’s like, you just put it in God’s hands,” she shared. “If it’s meant to be, it’s meant to be. And if not, we can always adopt,” she said. “I’m totally open to adoption too, and so is my husband.”

Bunnie and Jelly Roll — born Jason DeFord — tied the knot in 2016. She then became stepmom to Jelly’s two kids, daughter Bailee Ann and son Noah Buddy.

In the past several years, the podcast host has been candid about her IVF journey as the couple tries to have a baby, and this past June, Bunnie shared that she’d had a “huge win.”

“When you just got the call you’ve been waiting on for 5 months since this ivf journey started,” she captioned an emotional Instagram clip of her reaction to the news. “All the tears, the hopelessness & the struggle, God finally said, ‘Here.’ .”

In the comments on her post, Bunnie clarified that she isn’t pregnant yet, but has taken a step forward in her journey. “This is not a pregnancy announcement – we won’t announce that,” she said. “This is just a huge win for us.”

In August, she also called out fans who criticized her for not being seen in public with her husband in recent months.

“Somebody said the other day, they’re like, ‘They used to always be together. Now you never see them together,’ ” Bunnie said on an episode of Dumb Blonde at the time. “I’m like, do you guys not know for the past six months I’ve been trying to make a baby? Like, my husband has to work to f—— bring home the bacon.”

“Luckily, I have the luxury of being able to work at from home. So he doesn’t. He has to make appearances,” she continued. “But I literally have been on IVF meds for f—– six months and going through heartbreak and f—— so much s—.”

Back in March, Bunnie also posted a TikTok video and shared another update on her and Jelly Roll’s road to parenthood. The stepmom of two shared at the time that she’s actively undergoing IVF treatments.

“I’m literally going through IVF treatments right now — the hormones, the shots, all that,” she said. “I’m going through all of the emotions, the rollercoaster, [and] the worry, just so that I can have a little piece of my husband and me — just a little piece wrapped in skin— to just add to the other two beautiful children that we have together.”
