The New York Yankees were one of the best teams in baseball this season, but it wasn’t enough to win the World Series.
The Yankees fell to the Toronto Blue Jays in the postseason and are set to lose a few key players to free agency. Among the players headed to free agency is slugger Cody Bellinger, who was recently projected to sign a massive $168 million deal, according to The Athletic’s Jim Bowden.
Bleacher Report’s Kerry Miller recently urged the Yankees to re-sign Bellinger in free agency, which could be the biggest move they make.

“See: Bregman, Alex. Bellinger’s Spotrac market value is six years, $183 million—but the Yankees, of all teams, could certainly afford it,” Miller wrote. “As things stand, their only outfielders signed for next season are Aaron Judge and Jasson Domínguez. (And, I suppose, technically, Giancarlo Stanton can still play some corner outfield here and there.) So, if they don’t re-sign Bellinger (or Trent Grisham), they better have a nice big offer lined up for Kyle Tucker.”
Bellinger was a huge piece of the puzzle for the Yankees this season. He’s likely going to be at the top of their list of priorities this offseason.
But the Yankees will have some competition. Teams like the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets could make sense as fits.
However, the Yankees should be seen as the favorites right now. Re-signing Bellinger would be the best move they could make, aside from signing superstar Kyle Tucker.
