Country singer Luke Combs‘ song “Hunting By Yourself” is usually a bit of a tear-jerker, as it reflects on the passage of time and how the best moments are always about the people that you’re with in them. This week, TikTok creator Olivia Plekker captured this adorable video of a 3.5-year-old boy getting ready to go hunting with his dad for the first time, but the catch is, he doesn’t know it yet. In the background plays the Combs song, which is the perfect fit, especially if you’re watching the first half of the video.
The TikTok starts with Plekker’s son walking through the kitchen, dressed in an adorable camo outfit. In his hand, he has snacks to give to his dad, who’s outside getting ready for a hunting trip. “I’m gonna miss daddy,” he says. Little does he know, he’s in for a real treat.
Dad comes in, and his son hands him the snack bundle, to which he says, “Well, I’m not gonna be able to eat all this by myself.” At first confused, his son asks why, and to his delight, dad responds with, “‘Cause you’re gonna have to come with me.”
This is where it gets really good. This little kid absolutely lights up, and his dad responds with an enthusiastic, “Let’s go hunting, boy!” The reaction not only got us a little emotional, but it also captured the hearts of everyone in the comment section.

“Dad’s been waiting for this day since he found out the gender.”
“Stop it, his face absolutely lit up!”
“He will never forget this day!”
“Dad truth = he’s more excited about this day than his son is. Soak it up, they grow up so quickly.”
Luke Combs Shares That “Everything Can Be Special” as a Father
Even though we’re not sure if the country star has seen the clip yet, we have no doubt it’s a moment he would be able to appreciate. Luke Combs also has two children with his wife, Nicole Combs, born in 2022 and 2023. They are also currently expecting a third child this winter.

In his journey as a father, Combs shared on Father’s Day what it was like having two kids this year. “I mean, being a dad is like the best thing ever, right? It’s really hard to explain, it’s just seeing your kid’s face light up when you walk back through the door or when you make them something to eat or take them on a ride in the truck,” Combs shared that when you’re a father, “Whatever it is, like, everything can be special.”

Aside from taking on fatherhood one day at a time, Combs is also preparing for new music releases, and an international tour in 2026.
