We all love musicians for their music. That much is obvious. However, true and profound fandom goes beyond music, as it correlates with an admiration for the personality of the musician in question. Staunch music fans know this, and so does Carrie Underwood, as her biggest inspirations are far more than just celebrities. They are also individuals who admirably accomplish the impossible balancing act of being mothers, wives, and musicians.
On the surface, one could probably surmise who Underwood’s biggest inspirations are because of the evident parallels in their style and sound. Although, one might not assume the reason why she has such a deep respect for her heroes, as it is a reason that only a select few could truly understand.
The Sincere Respect Carrie Underwood Has for Her Idols
In an interview with ABC from 2024, Underwood divulged who has inspired her music, career, and life the most.
“I think my biggest influences musically, or career-wise, would have to be women like Reba [McEntire], Dolly [Parton], Faith Hill, Martina McBride,” she told ABC.
“You see all of these women just juggle everything masterfully and many of them are moms and they’re superstars and they’re talented,” Underwood added.”You know, I know how hard they work because I’m in their shoes somewhat and doing the same juggling.”
Given that Underwood is also a mother, a wife, and a celebrity, she knows just how difficult this life can be. Thus, she has a heightened level of empathy; and consequently, a heightened level of admiration for the individuals mentioned above.
“You have the kids and the career and you’re just trying to crush everything you do and being pulled in a million different directions,” Underwood went on to say. “To see women like that who are just beautiful and smart and strong and talented, knowing that they have come first and they’re still getting to do what they love. They’re still getting to be the mom and the wife and all the things. That’s just such an inspiration to me and just lets me know that I can do it too.”
Even though Carrie Underwood’s affinity for these women certainly resides in their music, it seems the affection they have for their families makes their careers all the more inspiring to the former American Idol winner.
