Real reason Prince Harry ‘desperately needs’ to meet King Charles next week

Prince Harry “desperately needs” to meet with King Charles next week for one major reason, according to one royal expert. The Duke of Sussex is set to travel to travel to the UK for the annual WellChild Awards on September 8.

It is the first time that the 40-year-old has made the journey to his home country since May – with his last visit taking place for his High Court hearing into changes into his security arrangements in the UK. In an interview held after it emerged that he had lost his appeal to reinstate security in the UK, Harry revealed that his father won’t talk to him but shared that he would be open to reconciliation.

It emerged last month that royal aides for both Harry and the King held a meeting in London – which were described as the first steps to reconciliation for the father-and-son.

Speaking of the pair, royal expert and biographer Ingrid Seward told Newsweek why the Duke “desperately needs” to meet with his father next week.

She said: “My opinion is that Harry desperately needs the stardust of meeting his father. He needs the glow of being the King’s son to shine on him.

“I think Harry would be very keen to meet his father, and as a parent, I would think Charles would probably like to see him.”

Harry, who will reportedly be travelling to the UK without his wife and two children in tow, has not meet with his father since February 2024. Their last visit came just hours after the King’s cancer diagnosis was publicly revealed.

Harry’s appearance at the awards ceremony on Monday will take place exactly three years afte the late Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

The Duke of Sussex will make a speech, meet and talk with seriously ill children and their families, and present an award to an “inspirational child” aged between four and six.

He has attended the awards 14 times before and has held the role of the charity’s patron for 17 years.
