As the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers faced off against each other in the 2025 MLB World Series, a screenshot authentically showed a post by U.S. President Donald Trump stating: “No matter who wins, I will refuse to invite either baseball team to my ball room as they are both run by highly inept officials from California and Ontario, Canada. I don’t host losers. We are actively investigating MLB. This World Series is rigged, probably by the Dems & the Mafia.”

In late October 2025, a screenshot claimed to show a post from U.S. President Donald Trump’s Truth Social account in which he refused to invite the winner of MLB’s World Series to the White House and claimed the ongoing championship was “rigged by the Dems & the Mafia.” The post spread as the Toronto Blue Jays and Los Angeles Dodgers faced off for the title.
Many people online claimed Trump made the alleged post after criticizing an advertisement aired by Ontario’s provincial government during the World Series. The ad showed a 1987 address by former U.S. President Ronald Reagan in which he criticized tariffs. Trump attacked the ad, called it “fraudulent” and pulled out of trade talks with Canada soon after it aired.

Numerous readers also reached out to us to confirm the authenticity of the screenshot. According to the image, Trump allegedly wrote:
No matter who wins, I will refuse to invite either baseball team to my ball room as they are both run by highly inept officials from California and Ontario Canada. I don’t host losers. We are actively investigating MLB. This World Series is rigged, probably by the Dems & the Mafia.
We found no evidence on Trump’s social media accounts of him ever having made the above post. The screenshot likely spread as a joke after Trump’s reaction to the advertisement. Given that it is a clearly doctored screenshot of a TruthSocial post, we rate this claim as fake.
We also looked at Trump’s X and Truth Social accounts, as well as archival pages that keep track of his deleted posts such as RollCall and Trump’s Truth, and found no evidence that he ever posted and deleted such a statement.

The White House issued the following statement about the Dodgers and Blue Jays on Oct. 25, 2025:
This year’s World Series brings together two exceptional teams that earned their place through talent and determination. As the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays compete for the Commissioner’s Trophy, they remind us why baseball brings friends and neighbors together. Melania and I send our best wishes to the players, coaches, and fans for a fun and safe series. May the best team win, and may God bless our national pastime and the United States of America.
After the television ad aired, Trump also announced he was adding an extra 10% tariff on Canadian goods. He wrote on social media, “Because of their serious misrepresentation of the facts, and hostile act, I am increasing the Tariff on Canada by 10% over and above what they are paying now.”
While Reagan’s words in the ad were real, The Associated Press reported that the clips were missing context, and Reagan made the address after he had imposed tariffs on Japanese semiconductors, and was attempting to explain his decision. He was still a critic of tariffs overall. The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute also criticized the ad on X, saying it “misrepresents” Reagan’s address.
