When it comes to lifelong friends, it would be hard to name another duo as iconic as Oprah and Gayle King. The two met in 1976, while they were working at Baltimore’s WJZ station. There was an instant connection—and they’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since. From fun adventures (like their trips to Morocco and Japan) to bigger, life-altering moments (like Gayle’s space launch), Oprah and Gayle show us all what it means to really appreciate and show up for someone. As Oprah has famously said about Gayle, “She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want. She is the friend that everybody deserves.
