LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Forbes released its inaugural “America’s Most Powerful Women in Sports” list on Wednesday, highlighting women who are leading the way in both women’s and men’s leagues. Among that list were two of Las Vegas’ most inspiring and powerful women, A’ja Wilson and Becky Hammon.

Earlier this month, the Las Vegas Aces won their third WNBA Championship title in four years after beating the Phoenix Mercury in a 4-0 sweep in the league’s first-ever seven-game series. The win didn’t come without its hardships, however, it did cement the Aces as a dynasty. A dynasty that would not be the same without Wilson and Hammon.

Forbes placed Aces Center and Olympic Gold Medalist, Wilson #15 on its “America’s Most Powerful Women in Sports” list, highlighting how her influence extends beyond the court. In December, Wilson signed a six-year extension with Nike, one of the most lucrative in women’s basketball history, and in May, she released her highly anticipated signature shoe and apparel line with the brand.

Wilson also became a New York Times bestselling author in 2024 with her book, Dear Black Girls: How to be True to You.

Wilson won her record fourth 2025 Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player award as well as Co-Defensive Player of the Year alongside Minnesota Lynx forward Alanna Smith. She was also listed as one of TIME’s Most Influential People of 2024 and 2022 Women of the Year.

Aces Coach Hammon was placed #22 on the list after leading the team, worth an estimated $310 million, to three championships. She is one of four coaches in WNBA history to win three titles. She joined the team as head coach in December 2021 and led the Aces to back-to-back championships in her first two seasons and then the third in 2025.

Hammon became the first WNBA head coach with an average salary over $1 million and remains one of the highest-paid in the league. She also made history as the first female full-time assistant coach in NBA history with the San Antonio Spurs.

Before coaching, Hammon was a six-time WNBA All-Star and still holds the all-time scoring record at Colorado State.

Gayle Benson, owner of the New Orleans Saints and the New Orleans Pelicans was placed No. 1 on the list.
