2025 WAKEFIELD FAMILY YOUTH BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL
VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR HONOREES
Seven Little League Volunteers Across New England
Will be Recognized at Fenway Park on Saturday
BOSTON, MA – The Red Sox Foundation will celebrate seven recipients of the 2025 Wakefield Youth Baseball and Softball Volunteer of the Year in pregame ceremonies at Fenway Park on Saturday, September 27. The award, presented in honor of Tim and Stacy Wakefield, recognizes coaches and administrators from each New England state and a challenger league that have had a positive impact on their youth baseball and softball community. In addition to on-field recognition, each honoree will receive a $1,500 stipend for their league.
The program is managed by the Red Sox Foundation with support from Fenway Sports Group Partner Michael Egan and family, as well as Moderna.
A full list of the 2025 Wakefield Family Youth Baseball and Softball Volunteer of the Year honorees is below.
Connecticut: Michael Orgera, Stamford Troy Softball
President of Stamford Troy Softball, Michael has dedicated 7 years to revitalizing the league, lowering costs, and building a strong community-focused program.
Massachusetts: Stephen McAuliffe, Cambridge Girls Softball
With over 40 years of service as a coach and board member for Cambridge Girls Softball, Stephen has mentored generations of players with compassion and care.
Maine: Emily Bienek, Falmouth Little League
A coach and board member for Falmouth Little League, Emily has spent four-plus years expanding programs, running clinics, and reinstating a league all-star team.
New Hampshire: Steve Martin, Milford Community Athletic Association
A coach and lead fundraiser for Milford Community Athletic Association, Steve has supported the league by running its all-star program and raising $20,000, with several years of dedicated service.
Rhode Island: Mark Fasano, North Smithfield Girls Softball
As president of North Smithfield Girls Softball, Mark has rebuilt the league over the past several years, boosting participation by 40% and securing vital sponsorships.
Vermont: Jordan Bergeron, Barre Community Baseball and Softball
Serving four-plus years as League President and coach of Barre Community Baseball and Softball, Jordan revitalized the league and oversees all operations while fostering a positive, team-oriented culture.
Challenger League: Tammy Fitzell, Miracle League of Western MA
Founder of the Miracle League of Western MA, Tammy has devoted more than 10 years to running the league’s operations, fundraising, and events, ensuring an inclusive experience for all players.
