Big Ben calls out Acrisure Stadium’s poor turf, saying Pitt should move out to help fix the field issues.mh

Ben Roethlisberger: The 5 Best Plays of the Quarterback's Career

Everyone in the Steel City has an opinion on the terrible field conditions that almost ruined the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ AFC North matchup against the Cleveland Browns last Sunday — and that includes the legendary Ben Roethlisberger.

On Tuesday’s episode of Footbahlin with Ben Roethlisberger, the former Steelers quarterback discussed the field issues that plagued Pittsburgh’s Week 6 contest vs. the Browns and may have found a solution to Acrisure Stadium’s woes — the Pitt Panthers have to leave.

“You can’t have a professional football team — not just the Steelers but the opponents — play on a surface like that,” Roethlisberger said. “Because you’re paying them a lot of money, and if people get hurt, it’s not a good thing. I’ve been saying for a while, I don’t think Pitt should play there anymore. … My thing is, and I’m saying this for Pitt’s sake as well, I firmly believe Pitt should put a 35,000-person stadium up in Oakland and pack that thing.”

Last Sunday against the Browns, Steelers S Miles Killebrew suffered a significant knee injury as a result of the poor field conditions — forcing Pittsburgh to evaluate free-agent options to replace the All-Pro special teamer.

Luckily for the players, the Steelers are on the road for Week 7 as the Cincinnati Bengals host Pittsburgh for an exciting Thursday Night Football matchup — hopefully giving Acrisure Stadium enough time to get the field conditions up to standard.
