Tom Brady makes it clear: here’s the team he believes stands above the rest in the NFL.mh

NFL legend and Fox Sports color commentator Tom Brady released his weekly power rankings on Tuesday, debuting a new team at No. 1 — a team he knows well.

From 10 to 6, Brady ranked the New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles (who held his No. 1 spot for the first four weeks before losing their last two games), and the Denver Broncos.

At No. 5 he had the Los Angeles Rams, the Detroit Lions at No. 4, and the Green Bay Packers at No. 3. The top two spots went to the Indianapolis Colts (5-1) at No. 2, and the best team in the league, according to Brady — his former team, the 5-1 Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by QB Baker Mayfield.

“And at No. 1, yep, that’s right—it’s shake and bake time in Tampa!” Brady said. “This whole top ten could be shuffled in a lot of ways, but the one thing you can’t argue is the Bucs are deserving of the top spot. Now let’s get the wide receiver room healthy.”

Brady has already been on the call for a Buccaneers game this season. The last time the Bucs won the Super Bowl and made a deep postseason run was in the 2020 season, when Brady was their quarterback.

He spent three seasons with Tampa Bay, making the playoffs each year after a legendary 20-year career with the New England Patriots, where he won six Super Bowls.

Taking over for Brady after his retirement following the 2022 season, was Mayfield, who is off to the best start of his NFL career through six games even while managing without several key offensive weapons.

Mike Evans has been out for multiple weeks, Chris Godwin has been on and off the injury report, Bucky Irving is sidelined, and rookie sensation Emeka Egbuka left Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers with a hamstring injury.

Mayfield is completing 66.2% of his passes for 1,539 yards, 12 touchdowns, and just one interception. The Buccaneers currently hold the best record in the NFC and are set for a massive Monday night showdown against the Detroit Lions (4-2) in Week 7.
