Yankees $10.2M infielder sparks outrage after celebrating off-field while teammates reel from costly error. lt

The New York Yankees were eliminated from postseason contention last week, sent home in four games by the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Division Series. And, while as always there was plenty of blame to go around for the defeat, a significant amount had to fall on second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr., who managed only two hits and two walks in 16 plate appearances in the ALDS.

Even more damaging, Chisholm who led all MLB second basemen with 12 errors in the regular season, made yet another error in the ALDS — this one coming at perhaps the worst possible time.

With the Yankees trailing just 2-1 in the seventh inning, and needing to win to force a fifth game in the best-of-five series, Chisholm booted what looked to be a routine double-play grounder, ending the play with Toronto runners on first and third and one out. If Chisholm makes that play, the Yankees get out of the inning. Instead, the runs came in two batters later and Toronto led 4-1.

Chisholm Spotted at High End Manhattan Club

“Been thinking about that since the play happened. Still thinking about it now. At the end of the day, we got to move on eventually. I got three months to move on now,” Chisholm told reporters after the game, as quoted by the New York Post. “I’m probably going to be thinking about this when the season starts next year.”

That’s why many Yankees fans were not amused when photos emerged just three days later, Chisholm was seen living it up at the chi-chi Manhattan nightclub Petite Disco alongside rappers Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Julius “A Boogie wit da Hoodie” Dubose (usually known simply as A Boogie).

The 27-year-old Chisholm — who pocketed a $5.85 million paycheck from the Yankees in 2025 and is projected to almost double that in an arbitration award from 2026 — may have simply been blowing off steam following a stressful season and even more stressful postseason which ended badly for both him and the Yankees.

But, as compiled by the Daily Mail newspaper, fans of the Yankees who went online to express their feelings wanted to see more contrition from the native of Nassau, Bahamas.

Fans Not Thrilled With Chisholm’s Nightlife Escapades

“Can’t even wait a week after the L,” wrote one Chisholm crtic, while another deemed him an “embarrassment to the pinstripes.”

“Could be playing tonight if he could hit in the postseason and not make an error in a big spot,” wrote a third, as quoted by The Mail.

It didn’t help Chisholm’s cause that in Game Three, with the Yankees down two games to none in the series and facing a humiliating sweep, Chisholm was shown on television yawning widely while playing second base.

Will Yankees Keep Chisholm For 2026?

“A little less night life and he wouldn’t be yawning on the field in a post season game,” wrote one fan. “Trade Jazz.”

Would the Yankees actually unload Chisholm in an offseason deal? MLB Trade Rumors, which uses a mathematical formula to project arbitration awards not only sees Chisholm receiving $10.2 million, but also has shortstop Anthony Volpe getting $3.9 million.

That would be $14.1 million for an infield combination that committed 31 errors between them, and struck out a dizzying 298 times.
