It started as a whisper — and then blew up into one of the wildest Giants rumors of the offseason.
Former San Francisco Giants Gold Glover JT Snow has thrown a stunning prediction into the mix: Stephen Vogt, the beloved former catcher and current Cleveland Guardians manager, will be the next man to lead the Giants.
“I have connection to the organization, never been invited back, but I think Stephen Vogt will be the next manager,” Snow said in a now-deleted post on X.
The post, which instantly went viral among Giants fans, sent social media into chaos. After all, Vogt is under contract with Cleveland through 2026, and the Guardians have made the postseason in each of his first two years as manager.
To pry him away, San Francisco would have to do something that almost never happens in baseball — trade for a manager.
That type of deal has only occurred a few times in MLB history. One famous example came in 2002, when the Seattle Mariners sent Randy Winn to the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in exchange for manager Lou Piniella.
Still, Snow doubled down on his prediction, reposting it on October 13, 2025, writing simply:
“I think Stephen Vogt will be the next manager of your SF Giants.”
Why Giants Fans Love the Idea
Vogt isn’t just another name. He’s a fan favorite in the Bay Area, remembered for his grit, leadership, and humor — both in the clubhouse and off the field.
During his lone season with the Giants in 2019, Vogt hit .263 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI as Buster Posey’s backup. His most iconic moment? A ninth-inning, game-tying home run on May 3, 2019, that capped an 8–0 comeback win over the Cincinnati Reds — a game still talked about by fans years later.
Before and after that stint, Vogt was an Oakland A’s legend, earning two All-Star selections (2015, 2016) and becoming a cult hero for his on-field passion and off-field personality. His impressions, jokes, and infectious energy made “We Believe in Stephen Vogt” a rallying cry around the Bay.
Now, years later, that chant might be making a comeback — this time in orange and black.
The Twist: Snow Wants the Job Too
But here’s where the story takes an even stranger turn.
Despite predicting Vogt’s return, JT Snow has made it clear he also wants a shot at managing the Giants himself.
When one fan on X asked, “Can you manage this team?”, Snow fired back:
“I would love to!”
In another since-deleted post, Snow even claimed that managing “isn’t that hard” — it’s just about surrounding yourself with the right people.
That comment raised eyebrows, but also sparked curiosity. Could Snow, one of the franchise’s most recognizable names, actually have a place on Buster Posey’s new-look coaching staff?
Reality or Fantasy?
There’s no evidence (yet) that the Giants have reached out to the Guardians or that any deal involving Vogt is being considered. But with the Giants’ managerial search heating up and several former catchers rumored as candidates, Snow’s prediction hit a nerve — and maybe even a bit of hope.
For now, it remains just that: a rumor.
But in San Francisco, where emotion and nostalgia run deep, the idea of Stephen Vogt coming home feels too perfect to ignore.
So, Giants fans, what do you think?
Is JT Snow just stirring the pot again — or did he just let slip the offseason’s biggest secret?
