“He’s the Only Right Choice”: Former Giants Star Drops Bold Prediction About Team’s Next Manager. lt

Stephen Vogt celebrates at second base after a sixth inning double against the Rockies on July 15, 2019.

Most of the rumored candidates for the San Francisco Giants’ managerial opening have been former catchers, and that’s probably mostly because the Giants and their fans wish they could have Cleveland Guardians manager and former Giant Stephen Vogt as their next manager. But former Giants fan favorite and Gold Glover JT Snow doesn’t just want Vogt as the Giants’ next skipper. He predicted that it will happen.

for anyone who missed the craziest #SFGiants manager rumor yet…

“I have connection to the organization, never been invited back, but I think Stephen Vogt will be the next manager,” Snow said in a now-deleted post on X. This is a bizarre, eye-catching rumor because Vogt is under contract with the Guardians through the 2026 season, and there would be no reason for Cleveland to fire him. The Guardians have made the postseason in both of Vogt’s first two seasons in Cleveland. To make this happen, the Giants would have to essentially trade for Vogt. This is extremely rare and has only happened a few times in MLB history, but is possible. One prominent example of a transaction like this occurred back in 2002. The Seattle Mariners allowed Lou Pinella to become manager of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, in exchange for All-Star outfielder Randy Winn.Snow shouldn’t be considered the utmost authority on Giants news. He is infamous in the Giants fanbase for making inflammatory tweets and then deleting them. However, he invoked his connection to the organization for this tweet, which suggests he may know something that gives weight to this crazy rumor.

I think Steven Vogt will be the next manager of your SF Giants

Snow also reposted his claim that Vogt would be the next Giants manager on Monday October 13, 2025.

Stephen Vogt’s Playing Tenure With The Giants

Vogt played for the Giants for one season in 2019, backing up new Giants President of Baseball Operations Buster Posey at the catcher position. In 99 games, he hit .263 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI, great numbers for a backup catcher. His most memorable moment in a Giants uniform came on May 3, 2019 when he crushed a game-tying solo home run with two outs in the ninth inning to cap off an insane Giants comeback from down 8-0 against the Cincinnati Reds.

WE BELIEVE IN STEPHEN VOGT

Vogt is also generally a well-liked figure in the Bay Area due to his memorable tenure with the Oakland Athletics. Vogt played for the A’s from 2013-2017 and finished his career in Oakland in 2022. In those six years, he hit .246 with 56 home runs and 221 RBI. Vogt also made 2 All-Star teams with Oakland, in 2015 and 2016. He was a fan favorite for his antics beyond just the playing field, however. He has famously good humor and is an excellent impressionist as well.

Snow Also Wants To Be Manager

Even though Snow predicted Vogt would become the next manager, that’s not his number 1 choice to take the helm in San Francisco. That’s because in Snow’s mind, the ideal candidate is himself. “Can you manage this team?” a Giants fan asked Snow in a post on X, which Snow reposted. “I would love to!” Snow replied.

Would you want to see JT Snow on the #SFGiants coaching staff?

Snow also mentioned in a now-deleted post that he doesn’t believe managing is that hard, and that it’s about surrounding yourself with the right people. Snow doesn’t seem to fit Posey’s profile for a manager, but he certainly could be a fit for the coaching staff as an assistant. What do you think, Giants fans? Does this Stephen Vogt rumor have any legs?
