Even the Saints had to admit it: Drake Maye’s poise and precision powered the Patriots to another statement victory.mh

Patriots-Saints takeaways: Behind Drake Maye, New England wins third in a row - The Athletic

It appears we are in the midst of Drake Maye’s proverbial “arrival.”

On the heels of an impressive win over Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills, Maye and the Patriots beat the New Orleans Saints, 25-19, on Sunday to climb to 4-2 on the season.

The Patriots offense ripped off plenty of big plays — including some that got called back — with Maye ultimately finishing 18-for-26 in the air for 261 yards and three touchdowns. He also led the team with 28 rushing yards.

The potential had always been there with Maye. Now surrounded with more offensive weapons, he’s proving the caliber of quarterback he can be.

He certainly impressed the Saints.

Saints Salute Drake Maye For Performance In Latest Patriots Win

“He did some really good things,” Saints head coach Kellen Moore said after the game, via a team-provided transcript. “I thought he extended plays. He used his feet in a timely manner. He sits in there. I thought he played well, and we were not able to get to him. We were not able to get to him and create some sacks and rush opportunities on him. We were not able to impact him enough in the pocket.”

Saints quarterback Spencer Rattler, who, like Maye, came from the 2024 draft class, also praised the Pats signal-caller.

“He’s a good quarterback,” Rattler said. He has a great feel for the pocket. He can use his legs. He can see the field well. He had some nice designed plays today. He had some open stuff and he hit it. It is as simple as that. They executed. They executed more than us. He had a good day. He made some great plays. They had a good game plan and just made some more plays than us.”
