Just like her pal Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire has no time for fake AI images.
The two icons have been the subject of fake AI images circulating online recently. One shows Parton, 79, lying in a hospital bed with McEntire, 70, grabbing her hand, while the other depicts McEntire showing off a sonogram.
A day after Parton slammed the images in a social media video where she also gave an update on her health, McEntire spoke out in her own video shared on Instagram and TikTok.
“You tell ’em, Dolly! That AI mess has got us doing all kinds of crazy things,” said McEntire in the Thursday, Oct. 9 video. “You’re out there dying, I’m out here having a baby.”
“Well, both of us know you’re too young and I’m too old for any of that kind of nonsense,” she continued. “But you better know I’m praying for you. I love you with all my heart and I can’t wait to see you soon. Love you.”
McEntire captioned the video, “Too young to die, too old for babies 🤣 I love you, DollyParton! See you soon ❤️.’
Fans began to speculate about Parton’s health after her sister, Freida Parton, went on Facebook asking fans for their prayers after Dolly postponed her Las Vegas residency due to unspecified health struggles.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly. Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” she wrote on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
That evening, Freida published another social media post in which she said she “didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious when asking for prayers for Dolly.”
Dolly would then speak out against the AI images and provide an update on her health in her own social media video.
“Did you see that AI picture of Reba and me?” asked Dolly. “Oh lordy, I mean, they had Reba at my death bed and we both looked like we need to be buried. But I thought, oh my lord, but if I was really dying, I don’t think Reba would be the one at my death bed. She might come visit me earlier.”
The musician also said that she wanted to “put everybody’s mind at ease” and let everyone know she is “okay.”
She admitted that there were some health issues she was addressing that she let pass after her late husband Carl Dean’s illness and death, but said it was “nothing major.”
In September, Parton missed attending the announcement of Dollywood’s new Night Flight Expedition ride as she recovered from kidney stones.
“I had a kidney stone that was causing me a lot of problems,” she explained in part in a video that was shown at the announcement, adding, “turned out it’d given me an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better.’ “
Parton told fans at the time that her doctor “suggested I not go to Dollywood today, but I’m there with you in spirit.” ơ’
