Cozy with his foster parents Tim and Anna Dietrich Nationwide — After nearly 15 years in foster care, 19-year-old Cozy, the longest-waiting child in Arkansas’ system, was officially adopted by Tim and Anna Dietrich. The couple gave him their family name and welcomed him with love. According to Fox 2 Now, Cozy entered foster care as a young boy and waited more than 5,400 days for a permanent family. On Monday, his wait ended inside a packed courtroom filled with supporters from the Arkansas Department of Human Services, Project Zero, and other groups who had followed his journey. Anna Dietrich first met Cozy through her work at Project Zero, a nonprofit focused on connecting foster children to adoptive families. She said it became clear that her family was meant to welcome him. “We’re supposed to give him our name, give him our family, and give him our whole hearts,” she explained. Cozy, who is nonverbal, now has parents ready to stand beside him. “Cozy’s getting a whole crew today, and we’re so excited. And that is what we want for every single one of our waiting kids,” Anna added during the ceremony. The Dietrich family celebrated the special day together, visiting a park and enjoying some of Cozy’s favorite foods. 00:00 02:43 Rare Interview With Singer Nina Simone When Oprah Winfrey Was a Local News TV Anchor in 1978 Phylicia Rashad Supporting Her Sister, Debbie Allen Rare Whitney Houston Interview From 1985 Rare Aaliyah Interview From More Than 20 Years Ago Most Popular Posts: Jenean Chapman, Black woman murdered by her white husband White Husband Gets 72 Years for Killing His Black Wife, Leaving Her Unrecognizable Levi Norwood Teen Killed His Family Because They Were Against His Black Girlfriend Krystena Murray, woman who gave birth to Black baby White Woman from Georgia Sues Fertility Clinic After Giving Birth to a Black Baby Brooke-Bruk Jackson White Woman Controversially Wins Miss Universe Zimbabwe Beauty Pageant Competition Celeste Wilson 42-Year-Old Black TV News Anchor from Mississippi Dies Suddenly Jon Luke Evans Black Police Officer Arrested by ICE Agrees to Leave the Country Voluntarily White Karen and Black woman at Buffalo law firm office Black Woman, Employee at Law Firm Told She Can’t Use the Bathroom Where She Works Beyoncé during Kamala Harris’ 2024 campaign Trump Wants Beyoncé Prosecuted For Allegedly Being Paid $11M to Endorse Kamala Harris Donald Trump and Kamala Harris Trump Tells Thousands of Black Journalists He Didn’t Know Kamala Harris Was Black Tia Bell 27-Year-Old Black Woman of Nine Children Shot to Death in Chicago Brian Moore Jr. Black Man Wins His Court Case After DEA Wrongfully Seized His Cash at Airport White couple who enslaved their Black children White Couple Sentenced to 375 Years in Prison For Enslaving Their Adopted Black Teens
