The New York Giants (1-4) will host the Philadelphia Eagles (4-1) at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on Thursday Night Football in a Week 6 battle.
That, of course, provides those of us here at Giants Wire the opportunity to hypothetically steal from the Eagles’ roster in search of depth and/or talent upgrades for Big Blue.
The Eagles sport one of the deepest and most talented rosters in football, providing a smorgasbord of options to choose from for this exercise, both offensively and defensively. It’s an embarrassment of riches.
With so many needs and so many choices, deliberation took some time. Strong consideration was given to defensive back Cooper DeJean, linebacker Jihaad Campbell, offensive tackles Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson, running back Saquon Barkley (ha), quarterback Jalen Hurts, and wide receiver DeVonta Smith.
Any one of those players would immediately make the Giants a better team, and it was especially difficult to pass over DeJean. However, following the season-ending torn ACL to wide receiver Malik Nabers, the answer was obvious: A.J. Brown.
Brown is not having his best season in 2025, hauling in just 19 receptions for 194 yards and one touchdown. However, that is a product of the Eagles’ offensive scheme and not necessarily an indictment or suggested decline for Brown, who has grumbled a bit about his lack of involvement.
The truth remains that the 6-foot-1, 226-pound Brown is one of the best receivers in football and has played at an elite level every season since 2020. He is a mismatch nightmare, capable of winning contested passes and creating yards after the catch. He’s difficult to tackle and frees up players elsewhere while commanding respect from opposing defensive coordinators.
The Giants have none of that without Nabers, which was evident during a Week 5 loss to the New Orleans Saints.
What do you say, Giants fans? Would you steal Brown from the Eagles or go in an entirely different direction?
