The Raiders have released LB Germaine Pratt. That’s a less surprising development after he went from starter to healthy scratch in Week 5 and didn’t even travel with the team to Indy. It’s certainly noteworthy, however, just five games into the season after Vegas signed Pratt for a little more than $4 million in mid-June.
What They’re Saying
HC Pete Carroll: “We just thought it was time to go in a different direction.”

Carroll mentioned Malcolm Koonce, Charles Snowden, and Jamal Adams as players who would combine to fill in Pratt’s vacated spot. That’s an interesting combo, because the first two are total edge players and Adams a converted safety who has spent nearly half of his time in slot coverage so far this year.
Pratt’s a more standard box LB, and his absence against the Colts led to Elandon Roberts playing 94% of the snaps. That easily marked a season high after Roberts’ first four games went:
- 16%
- 67%
- 53%
- 19%
Roberts has historically been an early-down type who comes off for passing sub packages. He has also been an efficient tackle collector, so there’s upside for tackle-heavy leagues if he’s going to stay in that range.
A Week 6 meeting with the Titans makes Roberts particularly interesting for deeper, tackle-friendly leagues. Check the LB projections later this week to see if Roberts makes sense for your lineup.
