A JoJo Siwa fan is setting the record straight after the singer allegedly kicked her out of a show for wearing an unknowingly offensive hoodie.
The incident occurred at Siwa’s Oct. 1 Infinity Heart Tour stop in Glasgow, Scotland, where the fan allegedly brought a hoodie that featured the singer, 22, photoshopped as an egg to seemingly mock her hairline.
The fan, identified as Anjali on TikTok, insisted that she and her friend brought the hoodie solely to make the Dance Moms alum laugh.
“Me and my best friend were really looking forward to seeing JoJo originally as a joke but then she started really growing on us and I was genuinely really looking forward to seeing her since she seems pretty cool!!” Anjali captioned an Oct. 4 TikTok video.
“We didn’t look at the backstory behind it or know it would be a trigger for her, else we absolutely would not have done that,” she added. “None of it was with malicious intent.”
The fan went on to explain that she didn’t have any merch to wear to the show and assumed Siwa would share her sense of humor and appreciate a reference to the popular meme. “I’ve been to other concerts and shows and they find stuff like that really funny,” she said. “Like it’s a common thing for people to, like, bring a funny picture.”
Upon being unexpectedly kicked out of the venue, Anjali recalled calling her mom while on the verge of having “a panic attack” and allegedly being ignored by the venue staff. Before long, the moment also began making headlines and sparking conversation on social media.
In one clip shared to TikTok, Siwa could be seen saying from the stage, “You’re not going to come to my concert and bring a hoodie making fun of me. No way! No way, man! Thank you for coming, I appreciate it! But we’ve only got room for infinity hearts in here, right? Not in my house, baby.”
The “Karma” singer previously said that her hairline was the “number one thing” people would comment on when they wanted to spread negativity on her social media pages. The insecurity ran so deep that when her boyfriend Chris Hughes complimented her on having a “really good hairline” in July, it brought her to tears.
“I’m drying my hair right now, and he goes, ‘You have a really good hairline.’ That’s the number one thing I was bullied for as a child,” Siwa said through tears in a video she shared at the time.
Hughes, 32, then offered her a tissue before hugging her and telling her, “I love you. You have a really good hairline, it’s got so much hair.”
