Ever since the 2024 NFL Draft, when the Chiefs‘ WR Xavier Worthy ran the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds, the fastest time ever, he has been the highlight. Some fans even call him ‘The Blur‘ for being so speedy. But in the week 5 game against the Jaguars, he might face tough competition from the rookie WR/CB Travis Hunter. So, is Worthy ready for anything that might come in his path? Well, he just made the competition hot by throwing a challenge.

During the October 2 episode of The Rich Eisen Show, Worthy didn’t hesitate for even a fraction of a second when Eisen asked, “Are you the fastest player on the field?” The Chiefs WR replied, “100%.” But the host tried again to get a comment from WR when he asked again, “You didn’t stutter.” But Xavier Worthy was confident as he replied, “Yeah. No.”

Finally, Eisen was forced to take Hunter’s name as he then elaborated his question, “Travis Hunter, and he didn’t run at the combine. You did. You set a record. But unequivocally, you are the fastest guy on the field.” But the receiver was firm in his stance. He didn’t budge and replied with just 2 words, “Yes, sir.” So, the ball is in the open now.

Travis Hunter needs to prove that he is faster than Xavier Worthy. During his career at Collins High School, his best time in the 40-yard dash was 4.2 seconds, per PFSN. Although he didn’t run at the 2025 NFL Combine, the rookie is one of the fastest players in the league. So, Worthy challenging the Jags player will definitely give an edge to the matchup.

Even last year, when many rookies tried to break his record (Hunter wasn’t one of them), Worthy posted on X, “There’s fast then there’s me.” The Chiefs’ WR then posted another message on Instagram, “Respect those who come before you.” Now, he is clearly declaring his authority over other speedsters in the league. And this year, he got a splendid chance.

One of the fastest runners in the NFL, Tyreek Hill (with a speed of 22.01 mph), injured his knee, ending his season. So, there is no actual competition. But the Chiefs are struggling, and the receiver is taking one game at a time, trying to find the weaknesses and strengths of their rivals.

Xavier Worthy warns Chiefs about Jaguars

During the same interview, Worthy also gave a tough message to his locker room. He said, “I feel like they’re just a good unit all around together. They play together, they play sound, and on tips and overthrows, they make sure they catch them. So, you just got to be technically sound playing against them.”

The Jaguars have built a balanced offense in 2025 with a strong rushing game and an average receiving game. On the ground, after 4 games, they’ve rushed 115 times for 576 yards, averaging 5.0 yards a carry. That’s about averaging 144 rushing yards per game, with a 71-yard breakaway showing their big-play ability. They’ve scored four rushing touchdowns and avoided losing a fumble, which keeps drives alive.

In the air, Jacksonville has 84 catches for 845 yards. That’s good for 211.3 yards per game, highlighted by a 46-yard pass. The receivers have also scored 10 touchdowns. That’s enough to present some challenges to Kansas City.

The Chiefs’ run game in 2025 has been a little below average. Through four games, they have 103 carries for 442 yards, 110.5 yards a game. They average 4.3 yards per rush attempt, with the longest of 35 yards. The ground attack has scored three rushing touchdowns but has not shown many big plays yet.

In the receiving game, the Chiefs are much stronger. They have 87 catches for 887 net passing yards in four games, averaging 221.8 yards per game, via ESPN. That’s about 6.5 yards per reception, with a long play of 49 yards. The receivers have scored 7 touchdowns, showing that the air attack is still their major weapon.
