Days after Dolly Parton postponed Las Vegas concerts due to “health challenges,” reports surfaced that the singer would also sit out the Governor’s Awards.
A representative for Parton confirmed the news to USA TODAY on Tuesday, Sept. 30, and debunked that her absence from the Nov. 16 awards show was related to her health issues.
“We told Governors Awards/Academy in June she could not attend due to a scheduling conflict when they first approached us,” Parton’s publicist, Marcel Pariseau, wrote in an email statement to USA TODAY. The Governors Awards is set to honor Parton, actor Tom Cruise, actress and dancer Debbie Allen and production designer Wynn Thomas.
Parton will deliver her acceptance speech remotely from Nashville, Pariseau said.
On Sept. 28, the singer revealed in a post shared to her social media accounts that she would “unfortunately … need to postpone” an upcoming slate of concerts in Las Vegas.
“As many of you know, I’ve been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures,” she wrote. “I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
Though her condition, which she did not disclose, will still allow her to “work on” all of her “projects from here in Nashville,” Parton said: “I just need a little time to get show ready.”

“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet,” she added. “But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”

Parton’s run of six Las Vegas shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace was scheduled for Dec. 4, 6, 7, 10, 12, and 13. The new dates for Dolly: Live in Las Vegas are Sept. 17, 19, 20, 23, 25, and 26, according to Ticketmaster.
Ticketholders will see the new date reflected on their passes, though refunds can also be issued, per Parton’s post.
Parton’s first extended run in more than 30 years, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas, is billed as an event that weaves together “seven decades of classic hits and fan favorites including ‘9 to 5,’ ‘Jolene,’ ‘I Will Always Love You,’ (and) ‘Coat Of Many Colors.'”
