Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur provided an injury update on defensive tackle Devonte Wyatt on Tuesday.
“I’d say week to week,” LaFleur said.
Wyatt exited Sunday’s tie with the Dallas Cowboys with a knee injury. The injury occurred during the second quarter when he landed awkwardly after chasing down running back Myles Sanders. Wyatt received medical attention on the field but was able to walk off under his own power.
The team initially listed him as questionable to return before ruling him out during the second half. The Packers were leading 13-2 at the time of Wyatt’s injury, but surrendered 38 more points after his departure.
After the game, edge rusher Micah Parsons pointed to the loss of Wyatt as a cause for the defense’s dropoff, calling him a dominant player.
“I think he’s underlooked in his value on this team,” Parsons said.
The 2022 first-round pick has enjoyed a productive start to his fourth season. Through four games, Wyatt has registered two sacks, three tackles for loss, five quarterback hits, and 13 pressures.
Fortunately, the Packers have a bye in Week 5, giving Wyatt extra time to recover. NFL teams do not issue injury reports during bye weeks, so updates on his status likely won’t come until next week.
Green Bay is scheduled to play the Cincinnati Bengals (2-2) in Week 6. If Wyatt is not ready by then, the team will look to players like Colby Wooden and Karl Brooks to step up in his absence.
