We’re a month into the NFL season. That means there aren’t any members of the Philadelphia Eagles roster who aren’t injured. The discussions shift from who’s hurt to conversations about pain tolerance because you can best believe every pro football player is dealing with something now. The hope is that it isn’t nagging enough to force someone out of action.
Philadelphia traveled down south to meet the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last weekend. Sunday’s win was stressful but huge. A statement was made, but it was also costly, as Jalen Carter and Lane Johnson were both injured.
The good news is that Carter returned to the lineup. Johnson didn’t, so for the second time in as many weeks, Fred Johnson entered the game in relief. Carter intends to continue having his shoulder looked at and evaluated. Fingers are crossed that Lane will play in Week 5, but so far, we’ve heard no clear indication that he will.
Expect an update on Lane Johnson come Wednesday afternoon.
The future Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee has been posting on social media, but he has only shared his usual pro-Eagles content, with occasional ‘Fly Eagles Fly’ messages. There hasn’t been much to glean from his X handle, so everyone continues to wait patiently.
He didn’t speak to any reporters postgame, but it was said that ‘he was moving around well’. That makes Wednesday the target date, as it always is. We’ll be able to make educated guesses by doing what we always do, seeing if he practices or not. Still, for now, the Birds are keeping cards close to their vests as they often do, and that means the official update on his physical status probably won’t come until Wednesday afternoon, when the Eagles officially release their first injury report of Week 5.
