Crockett Fires Back at Trump: ‘Stand Up to a Bully and You Win’—But Is the Fight Just Beginning?.th

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) fired back Thursday at President Trump, who told reporters from the Oval Office she was a “low IQ” person.

Crockett slammed the president and the broader administration for indicting former FBI Director James Comey earlier in the day, amid threats to go after Democratic funder George Soros and other party members.

“I want the American people to know that when you stand up to a bully, you win. Do not back down. Do not bend. You allow them to go and wage their threats,” Crockett said during an appearance on “MSNBC Live” in a response to Trump’s recent statements denouncing the left.

“If everybody starts to bend, for sure, what is left of our democracy will be gone. And unfortunately, that is exactly what he wants. And even more sadly is that many of his followers agree with this,” she added.

The Texas representative said she was “appalled” by recent actions undertaken by Trump officials who should know the law.

Crockett: Trump administration 'could care less about the Constitution'

“Now, you have people that literally either they just don’t know the law or they just don’t care,” she said in reference to Attorney General Pam Bondi.

In recent months, Bondi has been slammed for backtracking statements about deceased financier Jeffrey Epstein’s files, alleging she could prosecute individuals for hate speech and indicting Comey while noting the Justice Department would “will follow the facts in this case.”

“You do not indict them and say, well, now, we got to go look for some facts,” Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) said during a Thursday appearance on MSNBC’s “The Briefing.”

“Her statement shows this thing is a complete political hatchet job, and I think it’s going to blow up in the Trump administration’s face, because having practiced law in the Eastern District of Virginia for 17 years, I don’t see any of the judges in this district dignifying this political persecution in any way,” he added.

Crockett said Thursday anyone who is “halfway competent” should be able to win Comey’s federal case.

“Here’s the deal, if he [Trump] decides that he wants to continue down this path, I think that they’re going to continue to lose,” Crockett said.

“And I don’t see the former FBI director saying that he is going to just go ahead and say, enter into a plea deal, or he’s just going to take this lying down. I think that this is someone who absolutely will fight this to the end.”

She later added, “I think they’re going to have a harder time trying to figure out who’s going to actually prosecute the case than he will have trying to find somebody to defend the case.”
