Jelly Roll Has Not Been Shy About His Criminal Past
It’s no secret that Jelly Roll has a criminal history. He has been incredibly open about the crimes he committed and serving time for those crimes. He has visited prisons over the last few years, speaking to and performing for inmates, and even getting his hair cut by one who had just completed his barber certification.
In fact, all of his work with the inmates likely inspired Nashville Sheriff Daron Hall to call on Tennessee Governor to pardon all of the singer’s past crimes. In April 2025, the Tennessee Board of Parole voted unanimously to endorse a full pardon for Jelly Roll. Now, his fate is in the hands of the governor.
He doesn’t just visit jails in his home state of Tennessee, though. In May 2025, he stopped by a Minnesota jail to give the inmates a few words of encouragement.
The Singer Stopped By His Former Prison To Give Back
On November 25th, Jelly Roll visited the prison where he was incarcerated in Nashville. Not only did he visit with them, but he provided meals for them, and the staff in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday.
Nashville Sheriff Daron Hall once again took to social media to celebrate the “Savior” singer’s contribution and share some moments from the visit.
The first slide included footage of the “Save Me” singer walking into the common area of the jail to address the inmates. The next couple slides were photos of Jelly Roll speaking to the inmates and posing with sheriff deputies.

Jelly Roll is the perfect example of turning your life around, and he serves as an incredible example for these inmates to show that there is life after incarceration.
