Jelly Roll has imparted more wisdom to those struggling to get started on their weight loss journey as he goes into what was most difficult for him.
Taylor Swift and Ice Spice
The “Liar” hitmaker recently sat down at the Not A Damn Chance! podcast where he touched on the hardest part of his early weight loss journey. He then tells others how to get past this blockade that kept setting him back.
“I encourage all, like, really obese people, to be patient that first month,” he got into it.

“Your body is going through so many early changes, that you’re not gonna see the results that you think you’re entitled to,” he warned. Working so hard for no progress can be incredibly demoralizing, and is something Jelly Roll really struggled with when embarking on his health journey.
Jelly Roll explained that if he’d eat perfectly for a week, but “that scale didn’t jump 13 pounds,” he’d immediately give up and make excuses.
“I was like, ‘that f–king, give me a pizza right now, just f–king wasting time, it’s my hormones, I got a bad thyroid!'” he said mockingly, reflecting how bad it got.
The Best Advice Jelly Roll Can Give On Weight Loss

“It takes your body quite a while” to show progress, he sagely said.
His frustration got a point where he pleaded to his nutrition coach. “I was having a look at [his nutrition coach], like, ‘Bubba, what’s up, dog? I promise you I’m only eating your food, like what’s happening?'”
However, his coach told him to “just stick” with the programme, and the results will follow.
Upon remaining resolute, he then “started seeing the scale going down every week.”
“I was like ‘Ooh!’ To me, it’s a little fire. I’m like, ‘Loss! Loss! More loss! Let’s run up the bleachers, let’s shoot basketball!'”
The moment he stuck with his diet and didn’t give up despite the lack of progress, it came to him tenfold. As Jelly Roll lost more weight, he said that he started feeling more active and more willing to move around.

“So just naturally starting to get the weight off, I started to move around more,” he explained. “‘Hey, we should box a little bit, we should walk around the arena,'” he remembered suggesting.
To everyone struggling out there, keep with it. You’ve got this. If Jelly Roll can do it, you can too.
