The San Francisco 49ers‘ sideline briefly turned into a medical waiting room on Sunday.
After the Niners scored a touchdown on their opening drive of the third quarter, the team successfully completed a two-point conversion with a pass to Jauan Jennings, but the play came at a slight cost. Jennings was hit hard in the midsection as he leaped in the air to make the catch.

Unfortunately for the 28-year-old, his medical evaluation would have to wait as the blue medical tent on the sideline was already occupied by receiver Ricky Pearsall. The second-year player out of Florida was being evaluated for a knee injury, leaving Jennings to lay down on his back in pain while he waited, according to multiple reports.
They say history repeats itself first as tragedy, then as farce, and that seems to be the case for the 49ers this season with their brutal injury luck. The tragedy is the absence of players like George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuk, combined with the season-ending ACL tear to Nick Bosa, while the farce is one of the Niners’ remaining top receivers waiting for a medical evaluation like he’s in line at the bathroom because the other top receiver is getting his knee looked at.
Ever more farcical is that this isn’t the first time this sort of situation has happened to Jennings. Back in Week 1 against Seattle, Jennings also had to wait outside the blue tent for a teammate to finish up before the receiver was evaluated.

The good news is that Jennings was able to return to action and finish the game. The bad news is Pearsall missed the rest of the third quarter, attempted to return to action in the fourth and then pulled himself out for the rest of the game after one play and the 49ers would go on to lose, 26-21.
