“The Voice” has revealed the last two acts rounding out the top six for its Season 28 finale.
On Monday night, host Carson Daly announced the two contestants that received the most votes from viewers to advance to the finale: Teen sensation Max Chambers and the country-pop trio Dek of Hearts.
Team Michael Buble’s Max Chambers reaches ‘The Voice’ Season 28 finale
At 14 years old, Max Chambers is the youngest remaining contestant on “The Voice” this season.
The teenager, who played the young version of Michael Jackson on Broadway’s “MJ the Musical” last year, has wowed “The Voice” coaches throughout the show’s 28th season.
But the singer from Louisiana was briefly eliminated after the Playoff round, when each of the “Voice” coaches could only pick one singer from their teams to advance to the finale. Chambers’ coach, Michael Buble, chose to advance Jazz McKenzie, a 31-year-old singer from Alabama.
Viewers at home have now revived Chambers’ chance at winning the season — and becoming the youngest champion in the show’s history.
Chambers’ time on “The Voice” started with a performance of the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” where he danced across the stage in a light blue suit and had all of the “Voice” coaches singing and dancing along, too.
The performance earned the teen a chair turn from Buble and country music star Reba McEntire.
Throughout his time on the show, Chambers has performed soulful classics like Stevie Wonder’s “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing” and Sam Cooke’s “A Change is Gonna Come.”
Following the teenager’s performance of “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout a Thing,” Buble called Chambers “a front-runner to win ‘The Voice’ this year,” as the Deseret News reported.
“A star is born,” Snoop Dogg added.
Team Niall Horan’s Dek of Hearts makes ‘The Voice’ Season 28 finale
Although the country-pop trio Dek of Hearts was briefly eliminated when coach Niall Horan chose to advance Aiden Ross, the musicians still had a lot to celebrate: They won a performance slot in the Rose Parade thanks to a new feature on the “The Voice” called the “Mic Drop.”
But now Dek of Hearts can also celebrate still having a chance to win Season 28 of “The Voice.”
The Nashville-based artists have been popular all season long.
Following their most recent performance in the competition, a rendition of Crosby, Stills and Nash’s “Helplessly Hoping,” Snoop Dogg said he’d love to see the group in the finals.
“Can y’all just do that 30 more times?” McEntire added, praising their three-part harmonies. “I think y’all ought to win this whole sucker.”
“I wouldn’t be upset to lose to them,” the country singer later told her fellow “Voice” coaches, as the Deseret News reported.
If they win, Dek of Hearts would become the second trio in “Voice” history to be declared the champion. The first came in 2021 with the sibling trio Girl Named Tom.
Dek of Hearts’ time on the show started with an impressive performance of Jo Dee Messina’s “Heads Carolina, Tails California” that got a chair turn from all four coaches — and recognition from Messina herself.
After praising the singers’ tight harmonies, the coaches were shocked to learn Dek of Hearts had only been together for roughly 14 months at the time.
Dek of Hearts ended up selecting Horan to be their coach.
“I’ve never had anything like you on any of my teams, but I have won twice, so we should probably do that together as well,” Horan told the trio.
According to their website, the group formed after graduating from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville. They started out in worship music — which evolved into performances at churches, festivals and venues throughout the U.S. — and released a single, “Taillights,” earlier this year.
