When you think of your favorite films directed by the great Rob Reiner, chances are This Is Spinal Tap, The Princess Bride, and A Few Good Men immediately come to mind. Others may think of his adaptations of Stephen King’s work, including Misery and Stand By Me. But no one is likely to mention his 1994 comedy, North.

Why, you ask? Despite a cast that includes a young Elijah Wood, Dan Ackroyd, Bruce Willis, and Kathy Bates, it is considered one of the worst films of all time. It made only $12 million on a $50 million budget. Critics also ripped it apart, with Roger Ebert giving it a rare zero-star rating. It even inspired the title of his book, I Hated, Hated, Hated This Movie.
However, at least one person had a pleasant experience making the film: Reba McEntire. She starred in North as Ma Tex, the wife of Ackroyd’s Pa Tex. As news of Rob Reiner’s recent death continues to make headlines, McEntire shared her memories of her time with the beloved actor and director.

The image shows McEntire looking over Reiner’s shoulder at a camera monitor. She is grinning from ear to ear.
The caption reads, “I enjoyed every minute I was around Rob Reiner. He was one of a kind. I got to work with him on the movie North and he also helped us with our ending of my video, “Does He Love You.” I sure will miss him. What a gift he was to this world. Rest in peace, my friend.”
Following her tribute, other fans shared their thoughts on Reiner.

“As soon as I heard the news, I thought of this masterpiece of a video,” one fan wrote.
McEntire’s Reba co-star Melissa Peterman added, “It’s absolutely heartbreaking.”
Another fan typed, “North was one of my absolute favorite movies growing up.”
