Irish rocker and U2 frontman Bono, who President Donald Trump recently suggested should be investigated for involvement in Kamala Harrisā presidential campaign, spoke up for fellow musician Bruce Springsteen this week in an appearance on āJimmy Kimmell Live.ā
Springsteen recently drew the ire of Trump by calling the current administrationĀ ācorrupt, incompetent and treasonousāĀ during a concert in England. Trump responded with a post on Truth Social, his social media outlet, questioning whether Springsteenās appearances at Harrisā campaign events were legal, andĀ calling for āa major investigationāĀ into Springsteen as well as Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and Bono.

āHOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISNāT THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCĆ? ā¦AND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates arenāt allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment.āĀ Trump posted.
Kimmell asked BonoĀ on Tuesday nightās show, āWhose side are you on? Trump or Bruce Springsteen?ā

Bono laughed and said, āI think thereās only one āBossā in America,ā referring to Springsteenās nickname.
And if there was any doubt as to which āBossā he was referring to, he followed that up by saying, āTo be in the company of Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce and Oprah? Iād play tambourine in that band.ā
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was unsure why he was included in Trumpās list.
āU2 and I have never paid or played a show to support any candidate from any party. That has never happened,ā Bono said. āYou know, itās called Truth Social. It seems to be pretty anti-social, and itās not very true a lot of the time.

āA clue to being in such esteemed company might be the fact that I co-founded theĀ One Campaign, which is, by design, non-partisan, and weāve got a lot of very religious, Catholics, Evangelicals, conservatives, who are very, very, very angry with the person that they voted into office having demolished instruments of mercy and compassion likeĀ USAIDĀ orĀ PEPFAR, which has saved 26 million lives of people who have AIDS around the world,ā Bono told Kimmell. āThatās the America we love, thatās the America we all want to be part of. They are not happy and there will be trouble.ā
USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) and PEPFAR (Presidentās Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) are foreign aid programs that have been hit by theĀ administrationās budget cuts.
