Goldberg, 70, took a break from the talk show to return to her Hollywood roots with an acting gig in Italy, filming for a guest role on the Italian soap opera Un Posto Al Sole. The show, set in Naples, has been on the air since 1996.

As she returned to the show, her co-host Ana Navarro joked, “We should say ‘bienvenuto,’ cause I think this b—- has forgotten to speak English.” Goldberg joked back, saying, “I don’t know what language I’m thinking in, what time zone I’m in.”

Goldberg then told fans she had a ‘really good’ time abroad, saying, “I learned a lot because I’d never done a soap opera before, and so doing a soap opera in a different language, in a different country, made for a really interesting time. It was great.”

The panel then noted that their co-host sent them lots of videos from her time in Italy, to which Goldberg joked, “I just wanted y’all to know I was actually working.” She also added details about the weather, telling fans, “It rained every day. And I don’t mean like, ‘Oh, it’s raining, how beautiful.’ It was like, ‘rain, rain, storm, thunder.’ It was crazy.”

Navarro then laughed, “Starring in a fake soap opera sounds so much better than living through the real one,” referring to the United States’ current political tension under Donald Trump’s presidency.

The iconic television star first announced her role on Un Posto Al Sole, which is based around residents living at the Palazzo Palladini apartment building, back in June.

“I just wanted to stop in and say how happy I am to be joining the cast of Un Posto Al Sole,” Goldberg shared in an Instagram video at the time of the announcement. “They know it’s a crazy idea. I know it’s a crazy idea. But, what a wonderful thing to do. So, I’m looking forward to it and I’m excited.”

“@whoopigoldberg, congratulations, but I miss you on the view. You need to hurry up and come back,” another echoed.

According to Un Posto Al Sole’s official release, the Ghost star’s episodes will air in 2026.
