Country music star Jelly Roll opened up about his weight loss journey and his goals, revealing the next phase: surgery.
“I got fat really young, like really, really young,” Jelly Roll told Stephanie McMahon and Elyse Dudzinski for WWE SummerSlam. “I was over 300 pounds coming out of middle school. I’m going to be under 300 pounds for the first time since middle school. That’s an exclusive here. I haven’t said that anywhere. My goal for the first time since middle school, I will be under 300 pounds for the first time since I was we’re talking about literally now, like fifth, sixth grade, literally.”
The country star shared his goal to be on the cover of Men’s Health by next March and added that he wants to do a shirt-off cover by 2027.
“I mean, I’m a long way from that, obviously. Like I’m gonna have to get my skin cut. I mean, I’ve got to do a lot,” Jelly Roll said. “I’m gonna have to, because it’s interfering with me and my daily functions. It’s not even an aesthetic thing.”
In May, the singer revealed he’s lost nearly 200 pounds, thanks to focusing on a healthier diet, limiting alcohol and prioritizing exercise.
“I’ve been thinking of ways to make it sound cool, but I can’t,” he told Jimmy Kimmel of how he’s found success so far. “I’m eating a lot of protein, vegetables and walking. That’s what I’m doing.”
Jelly Roll teamed up with Randy Orton to take on Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul at the WWE Summerslam.
Jelly Roll and Orton “didn’t disappoint, as the brute country force rattled McIntyre and Paul with a series of slams and elbow drops, before ultimately falling short in his Saturday night (Aug. 2) WWE match,” per Billboard.
“This is about belief — believing in myself — and wanting to selfishly be a part of a beautiful moment,” Jelly shared in an interview with WWE’s Jackie Redmond. “I love this business. I just wanna bring value. I’m not here to take nothing away. I’m not here to take nobody’s spot. I want to bring value. I think this is one of the greatest ages of storytelling I’ve seen in wrestling this decade.”
Aside from WWE, Jelly Roll and singer Post Malone are about to release a track together called “Losers.”
“You might be lonely, but you’re never alone,” Malone wrote in a post on Instagram.
It’s inspiring to see Jelly Roll push forwards on his weight loss journey as he stays busy with his other endeavors.
