Texas Democratic Rep. Jasmine Crockett stood her ground on Sunday, declining to retract previous comments suggesting Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin received campaign contributions from deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, despite records confirming the donor was a different person entirely.

During an appearance on MS NOW’s “The Weekend,” host Jacqueline Alemany offered the congresswoman multiple opportunities to correct the record regarding her November 18 remarks on the House floor.

“I have no amendments,” Crockett told Alemany.

The controversy stems from a speech where Crockett highlighted FEC data showing a donation from a “Jeffrey Epstein” to Zeldin. However, campaign records indicate the contribution came from a physician with the same name in 2020—a year after the notorious financier and sex offender died in jail.

When pressed on the discrepancy, Crockett argued she acted with the information she had at the time. She stated she had only about “20 minutes” to research the filing before speaking and noted that she was careful with her phrasing.

“I made clear that there was a Jeffrey Epstein,” Crockett explained, adding that the contribution originating from the New York area added to the confusion.

Alemany pushed back, asking if the congresswoman was purposefully trying to link Zeldin to the deceased criminal.

“Oh, I absolutely was insinuating that it could be possible. That is true,” Crockett admitted. “But the point is, I never said that it was that specific one because I did not have the adequate time to do it.”

While acknowledging that the donor has since been identified as a doctor and that Zeldin has denied any connection to the sex offender, Crockett stopped short of an apology or a full retraction of the initial implication. Dr. Jeffrey Epstein also donated to Crockett.

“I can agree that Lee Zeldin has said that he’s not received money from ‘the Jeffrey Epstein,’” Crockett concluded. “Absolutely.”
