Irish rocker and U2 frontman Bono, who President Donald Trump recently suggested should be investigated for involvement in Kamala Harrisâ presidential campaign, spoke up for fellow musician Bruce Springsteen this week in an appearance on âJimmy Kimmell Live.â
Springsteen recently drew the ire of Trump by calling the current administration âcorrupt, incompetent and treasonousâ during a concert in England. Trump responded with a post on Truth Social, his social media outlet, questioning whether Springsteenâs appearances at Harrisâ campaign events were legal, and calling for âa major investigationâ into Springsteen as well as Beyonce, Oprah Winfrey and Bono.

âHOW MUCH DID KAMALA HARRIS PAY BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN FOR HIS POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT? WHY DID HE ACCEPT THAT MONEY IF HE IS SUCH A FAN OF HERS? ISNâT THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION? WHAT ABOUT BEYONCĂ? âŠAND HOW MUCH WENT TO OPRAH, AND BONO??? I am going to call for a major investigation into this matter. Candidates arenât allowed to pay for ENDORSEMENTS, which is what Kamala did, under the guise of paying for entertainment.â Trump posted.
Kimmell asked Bono on Tuesday nightâs show, âWhose side are you on? Trump or Bruce Springsteen?â

Bono laughed and said, âI think thereâs only one âBossâ in America,â referring to Springsteenâs nickname.
And if there was any doubt as to which âBossâ he was referring to, he followed that up by saying, âTo be in the company of Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce and Oprah? Iâd play tambourine in that band.â
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member was unsure why he was included in Trumpâs list.
âU2 and I have never paid or played a show to support any candidate from any party. That has never happened,â Bono said. âYou know, itâs called Truth Social. It seems to be pretty anti-social, and itâs not very true a lot of the time.

âA clue to being in such esteemed company might be the fact that I co-founded the One Campaign, which is, by design, non-partisan, and weâve got a lot of very religious, Catholics, Evangelicals, conservatives, who are very, very, very angry with the person that they voted into office having demolished instruments of mercy and compassion like USAID or PEPFAR, which has saved 26 million lives of people who have AIDS around the world,â Bono told Kimmell. âThatâs the America we love, thatâs the America we all want to be part of. They are not happy and there will be trouble.â
USAID (U.S. Agency for International Development) and PEPFAR (Presidentâs Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) are foreign aid programs that have been hit by the administrationâs budget cuts.
